June 17 - 21

This week we welcomed the first day of summer by going out to visit the tamarack trees on the hill.  We again made close observations of what we saw, heard, felt, and smelled.  We also reflected on the gifts given by Na'toosi (the sun) and thought about what we were grateful for.

We acknowledged National Indigenous Peoples' Day on Friday, June 21 by taking our learning out on the land and going on a community walk.

I Can Add Numbers Up to 20

This week we have been playing different games to practice adding and subtracting up to 20.  This is a great way to practice basic facts for addition and subtraction.

I Can Create a Pattern

We also took math outside to practice drawing patterns with sidewalk chalk.

I Can Investigate the Needs of Animals

This week we also took advantage of the beautiful weather to go outside and observe the ground squirrels that call our school field home.  Everyone enjoyed watching them play, eat, and watch out for each other.

We have also been learning more about an animal of choice and have been working on creating an e-book on ipads.
