September 23 to 27

 


It was a pleasure to see everyone who was able to attend our open house on Thursday.  It was great getting a chance meet families and watch your children show you around the classroom.


Since I was away sick for most of the week, we will learn about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day when we come back next week.

September 16 - 20

 


This week we started our soccer residency.  We learned some important basics.  Did you know you never kick the ball in soccer?  We learned about dribbling, shooting, and passing.  We will continue with three more sessions next week and two the week after.  




I Can Share Personal Experiences Related to Seasons

This week we worked on creating pictures in our visual journal of things that we can observe in summer.  Take a look at some of our work.







Literacy:

This week we started sounding out and reading words that can be made with the letters S, A, T, M.  We also introduced the letter P.

Our new heart word this week was: and.

We had a great first full week!  Everyone is adjusting well to being back to school and being here for full days.  I'm sure everyone is coming home tired!  


I Can Make A Pattern 

This week in math we have been exploring patterns and making our own with loose parts.  So far we have been creating repeating patterns with shapes and colours.  

Some of the key vocabulary words we have been learning include: core, pattern rule





I Can Explore a Medium and Create a Work of Art

This week we recognized Dot Day by reading Peter Reynold's book, "The Dot".  We then used water colour to leave our own mark on the paper.
